PRP recovery time: What can I expect after an injection?
Patients may experience two to three days of being sore. This also depends on the site being injected. The soreness arises from the inflammation to the site. This is a normal occurrence and leads to healing. Patients need to rest the joint or ligament for a few days or weeks after the treatment to not push the injected tissue too quickly. Typically, pain relief starts to occur within three to four weeks and continues to improve over a period of three to six months following an injection. The recovery time frame varies depending on the severity and what we are treating.
What areas of the body can be treated with PRP?
Any joint area experiencing pain can be treated with PRP. That said, the best results are seen in the knees, shoulders and SI joints.
How does amniotic stem cell therapy work?
Stem cell treatment takes advantage of the body’s ability to repair itself. With amniotic stem cell therapy, the stem cells from amniotic tissues are injected into your body. These stem cells have anti-inflammatory properties that reduce pain. The growth factors in stem cells provide growth factors that help to build collagen. Stem cell therapy goes far beyond the benefits of standard “injection therapy.”
Cortisone and other drugs only provide temporary pain relief which is essentially a band-aid. Stem cells actually restore degenerated tissue while providing pain relief. The growth factors in amniotic stem cells may aid in the replacement of damaged cells in your body. Additionally, stem cell injections contain hyaluronic acid along with cytokines and growth factors, which lubricates joints and tendons, easing the pain and helping restore mobility.
What benefits does amniotic stem cell therapy offer?
Amniotic stem cell therapy is very safe and effective. Learn more about several benefits this treatment has to offer:
Stem cells rely on naturally occurring anti-inflammatory agents, such as cytokines and healing growth factors.
Amniotic stem cells contain hyaluronic acid, which lubricates cartilage and promotes new cartilage growth. In some cases, we add additional hyaluronic acid to exacerbate healing.
Amniotic stem cells contain growth factors, which stimulate tissue growth. With amniotic stem cells, there is no threat of patient rejection. The amniotic cells have no antigens, therefore there is no concern of rejection. Lastly, amniotic fluid is a highly concentrated source of stem cells, which makes this type of stem cell injection preferable. Stem Cells from the amniotic fluid are being used for joint regeneration as well. While a little more costly these injections have higher concentrations of growth factors.
Are stem cell injections safe?
Yes. More than 10,000 injections have been performed without a single reported adverse side effect. Amniotic stem cell therapy is a preferred type of stem cell therapy because the cells come from an antigen-free site, which means that patient-rejection is extremely rare. The use of amniotic stem cells is well researched, safe, and effective. Amniotic stem cells have been utilized by the medical community for about 20 years. All amniotic stem cell donors go through a rigorous screening process, as determined by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).
Am I a candidate for stem cell therapy?
Patients suffering from any kind of joint, tendon, or ligament pain may be considered as candidates for amniotic stem cell therapy at Hamilton Mill Family and Complete Care. Some cases that we believe cannot be helped may be referred out to orthopedics. If you are suffering pain in your joints from degeneration or a sports injury contact us and see if you are a candidate for our therapies.
What is the P-Shot?
The Priapus Shot®, or P-Shot, uses pain-free injections of a man’s own blood growth factors to aid in the following:
- Strengthen the penis to give firmer erections
- Increased sensitivity of the penis for better orgasms
- Stimulate new tissue growth
- Increases blood flow with new blood vessel formation
- Make erections larger, firmer, and more frequent
- Increase girth
- Viagra, Cialis, penile implants and other therapies do not lead to vessel growth formation
During a P-Shot procedure numbing is applied to the penis to make the treatment as painless as possible. Blood is drawn from your arm. Your own blood is placed in a high-grade centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma for use in the procedure. The penis is then injected with your own cells.
You may notice improvements immediately, with full effects of the P-Shot occurring after 12 weeks.
What is the O-Shot®?
The O-Shot®, also known as the Orgasm Shot®, is a non-invasive procedure that uses growth factors from your own blood to rejuvenate the vagina. In women, this procedure helps improve:
- Decreased sex drive
- Urinary incontinence
- Sexual dysfunction
- Decreased sex drive
- Inability to orgasm
- Increases blood flow with new vessel formation
During the O-Shot procedure, your vagina and clitoris are numbed. Blood is drawn from your arm. Your own blood product is placed in a high-grade centrifuge to separate your cytokines and growth factors to rejuvenate the vagina and clitoris.
